Editor,
The election process in the United States has become nothing more than a popularity contest. Barack Obama's Hollywood personality and rallying speeches seem to be clouding the judgment of many college students at this campus. Even hinting that Obama is qualified and experienced enough is not only wrong; it's ignorant.
I understand that many college students are impressionable, but I implore everyone to check out facts before they blindly crown Obama as the messiah. Is the redistribution of wealth even prudent? Have we not recently seen the effects of this throughout our economy? The subprime loaning crisis is derived from the fact that lenders attempted to redistribute the wealth by lending to unqualified borrowers. Do we consider this redistribution to be successful?
I realize that it is difficult to find Obama's concrete beliefs on many issues, but I urge everyone to try. The principles that this country was founded on are eroding away in front of my eyes. I genuinely hope that style does not prevail over substance. I guess people have forgotten that change is not inherently positive.
