McCain's experience, character exactly what country needs

Editor,

Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger made a very candid point at a John McCain rally in Ohio. He said McCain spent more time as a prisoner of war than Barack Obama has spent in the U.S. Senate. Schwarzenegger made this point to highlight McCain's unique experiences and long preparation to be president of the U.S.

McCain has observed, been involved in and learned from all the major events in the U.S. and the world for the past 50 years. He served in the Navy under President Kennedy in the Cuban Missile Crisis. As a U.S. representative and senator, he has served America with presidents Reagan, George H.W. Bush, Clinton and George W. Bush. He has been through powerful economies and weak economies. He has experienced war and peace. Through all these experiences, he has learned what is good and bad for America. As wise men have said for thousands of years, a large number of experiences come together to create a clear mind and vision. McCain has the knowledge and vision the U.S. and the world need in these difficult times. On his first day as president, McCain will be able to begin making important decisions to lead America to a bright future. These decisions will be made intelligently and with confidence. McCain's decisions will carry the weight of experience and hard-earned truth.

Proof of McCain's experience and knowledge are in his current policy proposals. He knows that the high tax rate on businesses is the primary reason businesses close down and move to other countries. The business tax rate must be decreased to keep the U.S. competitive in a worldwide economy. He also knows the government must decrease its spending by cutting programs and decreasing the budgets of other programs. This is the best way to reduce the federal deficit and to prevent future generations from being crippled monetarily.

McCain knows we must break away from our dependence on foreign fuels. Investing in the sources of fuel we have here in America, such as clean coal technology, and investing in alternative energy will create millions of new jobs for Americans. He knows we need to increase our use of natural gas, wind, solar and nuclear power.

McCain is wise on economic issues and what is good for America's culture. He knows the foundation of American society is the union of a man and woman in marriage. This is the union America draws her existence from. He will work to defend traditional marriage. McCain will also appoint judges to the courts who strictly interpret the Constitution. These judges will help stop the mass destruction of human beings brought about through legalized abortion. Since Roe v. Wade in 1973, 47 million unborn human beings have been killed through abortion. McCain will work to ensure all Americans, from the first moments of their existence, will be guaranteed their God-given inalienable rights.

McCain's extensive experience, knowledge, good polices and strong character are exactly what America needs. He will lead Americans to a bright and secure future. He will lead based on the truth about life and not on ideology. As Joe Biden said before he began running for Obama's vice president, "John McCain will make a great president."
