Obama's tax plan will cost middle class no matter what

Editor,

Sen. Barack Obama is a very good speaker. He incites the imagination and paints a picture of euphoria. In all fairness, I would like to paint a picture of reality as it relates to Obama's economic plan.

I am going to compare his economic plan to school and grades. Let us say that there are four students going to the University of Barack Obama. In this university, all students would be graded based on the whole class, not individual successes or failures. Either you all graduate or you all fail. Two of these students are very good students. They go to class every day, they study every night and they show up for their tests. These students get straight As in all their classes. The other two students rarely show up for class, party every night, and they only show up for some of their tests. These students get straight Ds. At the end of the semester, when all four students get their report cards, they have all earned a C.

Because an education is a right and not a privilege, according to Obama, we will bring in two people that didn't even show up for class, but they have the right to get an education. These people didn't do anything to receive this grade, but it is their right. The students who worked hard and got the good grades had to carry the students that didn't work hard. The A students think it is terrible the professor took some of their grade away to make up for the students that didn't do their work. The D students think this is a pretty good deal. They can work far less than the A students and still get the same passing grade the hard-working students get. When they graduate and hit the trail looking for a job, they will be competing with the students who didn't work as hard but have the same credentials.

If Obama is elected president, then most of you will be joining the working world during his term as president. I know Obama says he will be giving a tax break to 95 percent of all Americans. With the amount of money he wants to spend, the middle class will see a tax increase. You will be paying at least 50 percent more in taxes.

Even if Obama doesn't raise taxes on the middle class, he is going to raise taxes on businesses. Do you think the businesses are going to absorb the additional cost of the higher taxes? I think not. Everything you purchase is going to be more expensive to cover the additional cost of higher taxes. You, as a consumer, will be paying for those higher taxes. They will also cut back on employees and investing on future growth.

All of this is going to happen while you are graduating and looking for a job. You will be looking for jobs that won't be there because of companies having to pay higher taxes. Companies will not sacrifice their profits and just absorb the additional costs of higher taxes. Think carefully about your vote on Election Day.
