Staff Report
The UNM women's cross country team closed its season at the NCAA Championship on Tuesday in Terre Haute, Ind.
Nicky Archer placed 56th with a season-best time of 20:53. UNM finished in 18th place. Washington captured the title with a score of 79 points.
The Lobos were strong top to bottom, with Michelle Corrigan finishing 13 seconds behind Archer.
Corrigan finished in 85th place. Lacey Oeding, Carolyn Boosey and Ashley Gibson rounded out UNM's top 5, finishing in 140th, 152nd and 167th, respectively.
"We had a very solid day, and to finish 18th - three spots above where we were ranked - is a step in the right direction for our cross country and track programs," head coach Joe Franklin told GoLobos.com. "Nicky and Michelle had decent days, but we didn't all hit it like I think we could have today."
