Editor,
One of the definitions for the word “respect” is “the condition of being esteemed or honored.”
Are women treated with “respect” in this society?
You do not need but two eyes to see women walking around campus practically naked. They have clothes on, but the clothing is minimal, or so tight that there is little left to the imagination.
Consequently, you will usually have one or two brothers calling those women by any number of degrading names. While it is true that a man should respect in all women the womb that bore him, women must take personal responsibility as well.
If you want a brother to respect you, sister, then you must first start by respecting yourself. As a poet once said, “Having love is more important than having a lover.”
