Monday on the Street: Sex Week

What is your opinion on Sex Week and how it should be approached?

Ben Jacobs, sophomore, law student

"College students are making adult choices, they ought to know what options are out there and how they can make the best choices for themselves. I'm not against education, I think the education is fine. But I don't think it makes a lot of sense to limit the topics that will be covered. If those are the things that are facing college students out there in the real world, they ought to have the information."

Kaelyn Johnson, junior, business administration

"Recently, I think that, especially in the media, women being taken advantage of has been a big issue. I feel like we should be touching more on rape culture that we've created and how women should be able to say 'no,' no matter what. Even a man should be able to say 'no,' no matter what. So I think having an open discussion about it is super important, because we're all adults and we all should be able to talk about our sexualities."

Danny Jaramillo, senior, business administration

"I think that in our society and in the university, pretty much all doors are open. I think if you're comfortable with something, you should attend. I think everything should be limited to an extent, the racy stuff, I mean that's something that has to do with logic. Sex in general, sex education, I think sex education is a good thing."

Brianna Bayardo, freshman, speech and hearing sciences

"I would have to say I think what would be appropriate, is something more like 'have safe sex.' I don't think you want too much racy stuff, I think definitely how to have safe sex and prevention, like with birth control or STD prevention, I think that's important, general sex education."
