Students put their hands on Kale's back during a 505 Pit Crew class session at Truman Middle School Tuesday. Kale, a 3-year-old pit bull, came to Animal Humane New Mexico in August 2010 after officials thought he was being abused in a dog fighting ring. The scars on his back are indicative of either chemical burns or being doused with gasoline and set on fire.
