Gun Violence, a Brief Cultural History is an exhibit on display at the University of New Mexico’s Maxwell Museum that focuses on the history and culture surrounding gun violence in the U.S.during the 21st century, said David Phillips, the Interim Director of the Maxwell Museum of Anthropology.

Sweden was the longest leg of my journey and the main reason that I decided to visit Europe in the first place. My father’s family is Swedish and I always wanted to visit my Swedish relatives. All in all, I met around eight relatives in Gothenburg, Stockholm, Lund and Gunnarp.

Castles, churches, fish’n chips, museums, the sea — and a whole lot of walking. The United Kingdom is comprised of England, Scotland, Wales and Northern Ireland and all are uniquely incredible. Spending the past week in the U.K. has been a wonderful opportunity to visit new places and learn new things.

The University of New Mexico's Medieval Institute is an interdisciplinary course of study that combines both English and history classes focusing on medieval studies, said Emily Northcutt, a recent UNM graduate. Northcutt was the president of the Medieval Studies Student Organization during the spring semester of 2018.

New Mexico 1st Congressional District early voting is in full swing. The primary for all parties is on Tuesday June 5, with early voting continuing until Saturday June 2. Voters will be voting on numerous posts, including U.S. Senate, U.S. House of Representatives, Governor, Lieutenant Governor, Attorney General, Secretary of State, Auditor and New Mexico House of Representatives.

The University of New Mexico hosted a free speech event titled “Challenges, Threats and Dilemmas of Free Speech in the Age of Trump.” The event highlighted the importance of freedom speech and the caveats individuals face in the current political climate. This event was the first in a series of events that will discuss issues in free speech.

Aleja Allen will be graduating on May 12 with a master’s degree in modern European history from the University of New Mexico. Allen’s graduate education focused on Irish studies, particularly comparing Derry, Northern Ireland and the Irish community in South Boston in the Civil Rights Era.
