Blanket interlock policy too prohibitive, expensive

Editor, Lucinda Ulrich proposed requiring ignition interlocks on every single car as a solution to drunken driving in yesterday's Daily Lobo, so that nobody could ever drive intoxicated again. This is grossly heavy-handed, because this policy would be punishing all drivers for the actions of a few.

Immigration enforcement shouldn't involve bullets

Editor, Hopefully, columnist Steve Painter was making a joke with his proposals in Tuesday's Daily Lobo. To enforce illegal immigration laws on the Mexican border with bullets, as he suggested, brings to mind the razor wire and guard towers that once surrounded East Berlin.

PAC sweeps elections, wins 8 Senate seats

The PAC slate took eight of 10 ASUNM Senate seats in Wednesday's elections. Two of the JIVE slate's six members were elected. PAC members won every seat they ran for. Sebastian Pais Iriart, a PAC member, received 366 votes, the most in the Senate race.

Editor, I am deeply saddened by the death of the four family members from Las Vegas, N.M., who died in a car accident caused by a drunken driver. My heart goes out to the sole survivor, who has lost her sisters and her parents due to alcohol abuse and poor judgment.
