A store clerk was murdered Tuesday morning at the 7-11 on Central Avenue and University Drive, and the killer(s) remain at large.
Police told KOB they have “strong leads” in the case, but APD has yet to release many other details of the incident, such as the victim’s identity or the manner of his or her death.
Police arrived on the scene early Tuesday morning and did not disclose news of the incident until about 11 hours later, KOB reported.
APD continues to search for suspects and the 7-11 convenience store and gas station, located across the street from campus, remain closed and barricaded. Investigators had cleared the scene by Tuesday afternoon.
Regional 7-11 spokesman Blake Louis wouldn’t disclose any information regarding 7-11’s safety procedures, and said his office is cooperating with police as the investigation continues.
“First and foremost our thoughts and prayers are with the family of the employee,” he said. “We’re prepared to help them in any way we can. In the meantime we’re doing everything we can to help APD as they’re working to apprehend person or persons who committed the crime.”
