Athletes of the Week

Irving, a senior playing in his last home matches as a Lobo, defeated the University of Louisiana at Lafayette’s Cason Mays in straight sets 6-1, 6-2. He also teamed with Brent Salazar to defeat Michael Tarkowski and Johan Westheizen 8-5. Against New Mexico State University Sunday, Irving again swept his opponent in straight sets 6-1, 6-2 and took a doubles win with Salazar 9-8.

UNM won both weekend matches.

Chambers, a junior catcher for the Lobos, went three-for-four with four RBIs in UNM’s 10-9 victory over the University of Nevada Las Vegas Sunday in game two of a doubleheader.

Her eighth inning game-winning RBI double secured the win for the Lobos and gave UNM a split with the Rebels.
