The Connection will work for the students

Editor,

On behalf of Andrea Cook, myself and The Connection slate’s senators-elect, I want to thank all UNM students for their overwhelming support of The Connection on Wednesday.

By voting for The Connection, you proved that you have faith in our leadership and our platform, and I promise that we will not let you down. What is even more exciting about the slate’s sweep is that, since each of us will be in office, we can accomplish our goals of unity, communication and overall safety on campus. We also will be able to achieve excellent representation for every student organization on the senate.

The purpose of this letter is not to preach values or goals, but to assure you that each member of The Connection will strive to work toward those goals with the utmost professionalism and determination.

That is the job of an ASUNM senator, and that is why these members of The Connection were chosen to run for office: because of their outstanding achievements and work ethic that have already been proven in each of the more than 30 student organizations they represent.

I wish to encourage all students to get involved in ASUNM. Whatever your fancy, an organization or an ASUNM committee does exist that will suit you. From NMPIRG to the ASUNM Crafts Studio, more than 250 student organizations, six ASUNM executive agencies and more than 20 ASUNM committees, such as KUNM radio board, Student Publications Board or the Strategic Planning Committee, are designed for student input and involvement.

The ASUNM office and the Student Activities Center — both on the second floor of the Student Services Center — has lists and contacts for each of these agencies and organizations, so please get involved.

The Connection would like to thank each and every student of UNM who voted and worked for The Connection, and we are very excited about the opportunity to work with students in the upcoming year.

Steve Aguilar, Jr.

ASUNM vice president-elect

The Connection slate
