Lobo deserves kudos for running controversial ad

Editor,

While David Horowitz has some good points in his reparations advertisement, he quickly spoils them toward the end of the list. He asks the question of acknowledgement of black America and its leaders for the “gifts” of freedom. He is quick to point out that “a white president” gave his life for his beliefs, but he forgets to mention Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. — a black activist who was also killed because of his beliefs.

Horowitz plays it safe at the beginning of the advertisement by staying fairly neutral and stating plain facts. But by the end, he begins to lose fairness. He states that black America has some debt to owe –– what? He starts off saying white America shouldn’t have to repay anything and then points a finger at black America, saying it owes America.

He also states that black America has been given reparations through welfare and civil rights. Has he forgotten that there are all sorts of colors and sexes involved in welfare and civil rights?

I applaud the Daily Lobo for having the balls to run this advertisement. I have heard a lot about it before and was glad to able to see it and judge for myself. You all do a great job.
