Patience needed for graduation parking

Editor,

I would like to take this opportunity to congratulate UNM’s Graduating Class of 2001. We at Parking and Transportation Services commend our graduates on a job well done and wish them the very best as they head on to new careers or advanced degree work. We hope that your celebrations are both safe and joyous and offer these suggestions to make commencement and convocations as enjoyable and hassle-free for you and your families as possible.

l Please consider carpooling, to the greatest extent possible. Several special events are scheduled concurrently and the core campus will be extremely crowded.

l Ask that your guests use the Park and Ride services. On Saturday, we will be providing free shuttle service from The Pit to Popejoy Hall from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and from the South G Lot at University and Tucker Avenues to Dane Smith and Popejoy Halls between 9 a.m. and 11:30 p.m.

l Help us keep core campus parking open for elderly guests and those with limited mobility.

Please, be patient. We will have all our officers in the field helping ensure that your special day goes smoothly. Your cooperation with parking officers will be greatly appreciated.
