Editor,
I am not someone who normally writes response letters, however, I must thank you so much for Sari Krosinsky’s column on following your passions in the July 26-Aug. 12 issue of the Daily Lobo.
I moved to New Mexico almost a year ago to pursue art (once again) — painting to be more specific.
I gave up a much safer career in advertising to pursue my passion for art and to possibly continue my education.
Although sometimes this idea seems crazy, like when I come home from waiting tables and my body aches, and when I think of how little money I have and how I have no health insurance or 401K anymore.
Or when I think of my brother who is a doctor and set for life in some ways.

But then, I come back to the excitement and love I feel when I am being creative.
Ten years ago, I was accepted to UNM’s graduate program, and I didn’t go because of the thought, “What am I going to do with a master’s degree in fine art?”
But somehow, I never stopped inquiring about schools, sending for catalogues, and taking extension classes and so on.
Now, I am going to reapply to the graduate program for no other reason than to satisfy an itch that has persisted for a long time.
My thanks to you.
