Sports in Brief

The UNM women’s soccer team will be looking to get its first win of the season this weekend as it continues on a five-game road trip to open the season.

After starting the season 0-1-1, the Lobos will try for their first win under first-year head coach Kit Vela when they travel to Arizona to battle the University of Arizona Friday and Arizona State University Saturday.

When UNM and the Arizona Wildcats (0-1) play, the Lobos will be trying to get revenge for a heartbreaking loss last season. The Lobos lost 3-2 in overtime at home to the Wildcats.

The Lobos will probably have a much tougher fight against the18th-ranked Sundevils. ASU is 2-0 on the season and have outscored its opponents by a 9-0 advantage. The Sundevils will be the first of five teams the Lobos play who made it to the NCAA Tournament last season.
