Sports in Brief

The UNM men's soccer team travels to Denver this weekend for a pair of games as it continues a season opening road swing.

The Lobos have played five games so far this season, all on the road, and have a 2-2-1 record.

The Lobos play another road game on Friday when they play the University of Missouri-Kansas City.

The Kangaroos have started the season 4-1 and are outscoring teams by an impressive 18-2 scoring margin.

Sunday, the Lobos look to exact some revenge against Alabama A&M University. UNM lost to the Bulldogs at home last season 2-1.

The UNM women's volleyball team will take on some of the best teams in the country this weekend, while trying to end a seven-game losing streak.

The Lobos have started Mountain West Conference play 0-2 and are 2-7 overall.

The prospects of ending their losing streak and winning a conference game look bleak as the Lobos travel to take on No. 14-ranked Brigham Young University and No. 21-ranked University of Utah.

UNM plays against BYU (6-1, 1-0) Friday, looking to get its first win over the Cougars since 1995.

The Lobos chances of winning versus Utah (5-3, 0-1) are not promising because the Lobos have not defeated the Utes since 1996.

The UNM men's golf team hits the road for the first time this season and looks to continue its impressive play.

The 19th-ranked Lobos will travel to play in the Adams Cup Sunday.

Leading the Lobos will be senior Wil Collins and junior Michael Letzig.

Both players took second place in the tournament a week ago, shooting a 4-under par 212.
