Junior guard Ruben Douglas of the men's basketball team and senior Monique Harris of the women's track and field team are the New Mexico Daily Lobo Athletes of the Week.
Harris jumped 41 feet, 2.25 inches in the triple jump at the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships this weekend to capture her second straight indoor triple jump title and fourth conference title overall. Harris became the first Lobo woman ever to win two indoor conference titles and is the first four-time conference champion since Laverne Clark captured four Western Athletic Conference long and triple jump titles from 1990-91.
Douglas poured in 41 points this week in games against the University of Utah and Colorado State University. He scored 30 points on eight-of-16 shooting, including 10-of-13 from the free throw line and added eight rebounds in the team's 72-60 victory against CSU Saturday. On Feb. 18, he scored 11 points in the Lobos' heartbreaking 66-65 loss to the Utes.
