The UNM baseball team starts a three-game series this weekend against Northwestern University at Lobo Field.

The Lobos (4-10) have lost three straight games and will be looking to get back on track when they play three afternoon games versus the Wildcats (1-3) starting Friday.

The UNM track and field team started the Mountain West Conference Indoor Championships in impressive fashion Thursday.

Behind several strong individual performances, the men's team is in second place and the women's team is in third after one day of competition. Sophomore Mark Johnson finished in second place on the men's side in the pentathlon, while junior Keren Sari-Bentzur took home third on the women's team in the same event. The performances earned the Lobos all-conference honors. The championships continue today and Saturday in Colorado Springs, Colo.

The UNM men's golf team is in second place in the John Burns Invitational after the first round in Honolulu, Hawaii.

The 16th-ranked Lobos shot a first round score of 1-under par 287, which is 13 strokes behind first place San Diego State University. UNM, which shot a school record 32-under par 832 to win last year's invitational, is led by senior Wil Collins. He is in sixth place after shooting a 2-under par 70.
