Sports in Brief

The UNM women's soccer team continues its spring training schedule Saturday with a pair of exhibition games at the UNM Soccer Complex.

The Lobos play the Air Force Academy at 10 a.m. and face the University of Texas at El Paso at 6 p.m.

The UNM track and field team is heading to California this weekend for numerous competitions.

The Lobos have 23 athletes competing in four invitationals. Junior Keren Sari-Bentzur and sophomore Mark Johnson started the action Thursday when they competed in the Mt. San Antonio College heptathlon and California Invitational decathlon, respectively. No results were available at press time.

UNM competes in the Pomona-Pitzer Invitational in Claremont, Calif., on Friday. Later that day, the elite university sections get underway at the 44th running of the Mt. SAC Relays in nearby Walnut, Calif., for the three-day event. Athletes from more than 45 universities and 10 international teams will be among the stellar field of the Mt. SAC Relays.

The UNM baseball team looks to get out of its slump this weekend when it takes on the Air Force Academy on the road for a three-game series.

The Lobos (17-23, 6-9 in the conference) have lost nine of their last 10 games, including eight-of-nine in the Mountain West Conference.
