The UNM women's tennis team heads to California today for the Mountain West Conference tournament in San Diego.
Seven women will try to conquer the MWC tennis championship for the Lobos, but they will have some stiff competition.
The University of Nevada-Las Vegas is the favorite going into the tournament and San Diego State University will also pose a challenge to UNM.
"We have a chance to win this year," sophomore Tiffany Robertson said. "Right now we are seeded third."
The Lobos will have to beat the Air Force Academy to advance to the semi-finals. The Falcons fell to UNM 6-1 earlier this year during the regular season.

"San Diego State will be the big match in the semi-finals," Robertson said. "Then UNLV in the finals."
The Lobos are coming off a 6-1 victory over Texas Tech University last weekend and they look to continue their winning ways at MWC Championships.
UNM will feature three doubles teams as well as six singles players. With a small number of athletes traveling, Robertson confirmed that they are all in good shape going into San Diego.
The tournament starts on Thursday and continues through Saturday. The team departs at 12:30 p.m. today and will have a short practice upon arrival.
Robertson's prediction: "We'll come home on Saturday after we've won."
