Men's Tennis
Two members of the men's tennis team were honored for their accomplishments Monday.
Senior Bart Scott received the Regional Tennis Magazine/ITA Arthur Ashe Jr. Sportsmanship and Leadership Award for the best sportsman in the region.
Scott is a four-year letter winner at UNM. His 90 career singles victories leave him as the third-winningest singles player in Lobo history. Scott's record of 29-14 this season was overshadowed by a tough schedule that included playing nine ranked opponents. The senior won the Balloon Fiesta singles championship and also made it to the finals of the Region VII Championships before falling to SDSU's Oliver Maiberger.
Assistant coach Loren Dils was also honored with the Region VII Co-Coach of the Year award along with SDSU coach and former Lobo, Gene Carswell.
Dils is in his seventh year as assistant at UNM, serving under his brother Alan Dils. This marks the second time (2000) that Loren Dils has claimed this award.
