Staff Report
UNM linebacker Fola Fashola will undergo knee surgery tomorrow after tearing an anterior cruciate ligament this week in practice.
The 5-foot-11 senior transfer from Kilgore Junior College came to UNM last fall. He played at right outside linebacker and safety positions, posting 50 tackles last season - nine of them for loss of yards. He was listed to share a starting position with fellow senior Billy Strother this year.
Head coach Rocky Long said there is a possibility Fashola could redshirt this season while he is healing, which would enable him to play next year. However, Long is concerned because he said Fashola suffers from a significant injury.
Fashola will be out for the remainder of the season.
