Staff Report
The UNM men's tennis team will play for keeps at its annual Balloon Fiesta Invitational this weekend at the Lobo Tennis Club.
The University of California-Riverside, Northern Arizona University, the University of Denver, the College of Santa Fe, NMSU, the New Mexico Military Institute and the Air Force Academy will be in on the action.
A Lobo has won the tournament the past two years in a row. Bart Scott, who was a senior last year, won the 2002 title while David Kowalski won the tournament as a freshman in 2001.
UNM should be well-prepared for its home tournament as its players are coming off the biggest Division I tennis tournament in the country at the 2003 Icy Hot/ITA All-America National Championships in Chattanooga, Tenn., Oct. 3-11.
Five Lobos made appearances at the meet. Senior Jasmin Hodzic, and sophomores Nick Ames and Henry Gers competed in the pre-qualification round of the singles division, while juniors Ryan Stotland and Kowalski entered the qualification round.
