Ortega earned his first outdoor victory in two years Saturday at the University of Texas-El Paso Springtime Invitational. Ortega literally won by a nose, as he leaned past UTEP's Stephen Sameoi at the finish line for the 5,000-meter win. Ortega cleared the course in 15:05.27.

Nicole Hansen-Solum

Track and Field

Hansen-Solum led the UNM women Saturday and won for the first time in her UNM career in El Paso with a first-place finish in the 400 hurdles. The Lobo men and women placed fourth in the invitational.
