The Lobo ski team made history Saturday by becoming the first UNM team to ever win an NCAA title.
UNM won the 2004 NCAA Skiing Championships in Truckee, Calif. by a 42-point margin over defending national champion Utah.
Senior Jennifer Delich brought home a women's individual title in the Giant Slalom and freshman Peter Roering fell just 0.02 seconds short of the gold in the men's GS.
Roering and freshman Lars Loeseth earned All-American honors in the GS, as did Delich.
But it was the Slalom team who clinched the win for UNM on Friday afternoon. Five Lobo skiers received All-American awards including junior Helena Woodrow, sophomore Kathrin Spendier, Roering, Loeseth and sophomore Christian Jensen.

Saturday, the women's Nordic team saw a third-place finish from sophomore Trine Lundamo, her highest finish of the season, in the 15K Classic race. Juniors Lena Jensen and Martina Stursova placed 11th and 33rd, respectively.
The Nordic men were led by sophomore Geir-Endre Rogn, who came in third in the 20K Classic and freshman Dirk Grimm placed seventh.
Head coach George Brooks is the only head coach the Lobo ski program has ever known and he has led UNM to finish in the top 10 in the nation 21 out of the 34 years the program has been in existence.
"I was born in New Mexico, skied in New Mexico and am proud to bring home the first national championship to the University of New Mexico," Brooks said in a news release. "Our coaching staff and our student athletes did an outstanding job the season."
