Rock 'n' roll, art and dinner is the theme for UNM's Annual Ceramics Silent Auction tonight.
In an effort to raise money, UNM Ceramics Club will be holding the auction at ReBar. With $5 bidding increments, interested buyers can sign up to take home art created by the University's finest ceramics makers.
"It's sort of like bidding on e-Bay," said Karla Ricker, an undergraduate in art studio with a ceramic emphasis.
Although this is an annual event for the Ceramics Club, Bill Gilbert, a member of the Ceramics Department faculty, said this is the first time this event is being held off campus. Ricker said it is important to students to experience exhibiting their work. He also said having it at ReBar is a good way to try to connect students to the professional world.

"We're looking for ways to get some exposure for the students," Gilbert said.
Gilbert said there is a wide range of unusual pieces - some functional pieces and some sculptural work.
Zara Southard, who is graduating with a ceramic emphasis this May and is director of the ASUNM craft center, will have apiece up for bidding along with 13 other UNM faculty members and students.
After the silent auction, the band La Junta will be playing. Bidders can enjoy dinner, live music and shopping for art with no cover price.
"Even if you're not bidding, you're able to come in and see what's going on in ceramic arts at UNM," Ricker said.
A percentage of the money raised will benefit the Ceramics Club and give the club the opportunity to bring visiting artists to UNM. It will also buy supplies for the ceramics department, Ricker said.
"I'm happy to be doing this because it creates energy around the art," Southard said. "It brings art into everyday life."
