Gallegos was terrific in her return to form for the UNM cross country team after a car accident in 2002 put her career on hold. She held a strong lead through much of her 6,000-meter race on Saturday and finished in third place with a career best time of 22:13.

Zunker showed he couldn't be rattled when he nailed the game-winning field goal as time expired against Texas Tech. Though he had to wait through two Red Raider time-outs before getting his chance, the preseason first-team All-Mountain West selection came through with the second game winner of his career. He made a similar kick last season against Colorado State for a big division win.
