Former Lobo skier Jennifer Delich was chosen to represent of New Mexico as a Woman of the Year award finalist. The award honors female student athletes who excel in athletics academics, and community service. Finalists must also have finished their collegiate athletics eligibility.
Delich was captain of last year's national champion Lobo ski team that brought UNM its first-ever NCAA title. She was an academic All American and a two-time All-American who won the national championship individually in the women's giant slalom.
Delich also served as vice-president of New Mexico's Student-Athlete Advisory Committee in 2004. This summer she was selected as one of 324 student athletes from a pool of over 1,700 to attend the NCAA Leadership Conference in Lake Buena Vista, Fla.
Delich is a native of Fernie British Columbia and will graduate this December with a degree in biology.
The top 10 finalists for the award will be announced Sept. 15. The national winner will be announced Oct. 31 at the NCAA Woman of the Year dinner in Indianapolis.
