Men's golf ties for 8th in Georgia tournament

The UNM men's golf team finished in a tie for eighth place at the Carpet Capital Collegiate in Rock Face, Ga. The Lobos shot a 15-over par 303 in the third round to end the tournament at 36-over. Georgia won the team title with a final score of 15-over par.

Senior Madalitso Muthiya finished tied for second with a final score of 218 to end up at 2-over par, one stroke behind leader Rhys Davies of East Tennessee State. Other Lobos in the tournament were junior Spencer Levin who finished tied for 29th at 9-over par; senior Jay Reynolds at 15-over par who tied for 55th; junior Jay Choi tied for 66th at 18-over par; and senior Miguel Griego was 77th at 22-over par.

Women's tennis duo wins 3 matches in tourney

Maja Kovacek and Iva Gersic won the consolation doubles match at the ITA National Individual Intercollegiate Indoor Championships that took place in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Sunday. The Lobo tandem took down the No. 24 team from Denver, Yanick Dullens and Suzana Maksovic, 8-4.

Kovacek and Gersic, ranked No. 11, fell in the first round of the main draw at the Indoor Championships but went on to take down a No. 3 team from Kentucky and a No. 2 duo from William and Mary. The No. 24 team from Denver proved capability on the court by taking down the No.1 seed from Florida.

The Lobos will begin play again on Jan. 21 at home when they take on the Northern Arizona Lumberjacks.

Men's tennis eliminated after falling to LSU

The 24th-ranked Lobos pair of David Kowalski and Ryan Stotland were eliminated from play at the ITA National Individual Intercollegiate Indoor Championships in Ann Arbor, Mich., on Saturday.

The UNM doubles team fell at the hands of LSU's Mark Growcott and Ken Skupski in the consolation bracket semifinals, 8-6. The Lobos will resume play again in the spring, opening the season on Jan. 22 in Boise, Idaho at the ITA Mountain Team Playoffs.
