Swimming

UNM's swimming and diving team saw highs and lows at its Friday and Saturday meet.

The Lobos lost to the Utah Utes 167-128 at the Seidler Natatorium. But senior diver Becca Barras took home two awards on the one-meter and three-meter board events. She finished with a one-meter score of 280 points and the three-meter board with 309 points.

The only other individual winner, junior Robyn Miller, took home gold in the 400-yard individual medley, while placing second in both the 200- and 500-yard freestyle.

The relay team of junior Kelsey Leckovic, freshman Tori Clarridge and sophomores Jenna Swerson and Kelly Soldow took home first place in the 200-yard free relay with a time of 1:39.

The loss drops UNM to 1-5 overall and 1-4 in the Mountain West Conference. The Lobos face Air Force in Colorado Springs on Saturday.

Skiing

With junior All-American Geir Endre-Rogn bowing out early because of an illness, the UNM skiing team trudged on to finish second in the Anchorage-Alaska Invite in Jackson, Wyo., on Friday and Saturday.

Denver came out in first place with 541 points. UNM finished with 493.5 points.

With only the Nordic freestyle events left, the Lobos were nestled in third place.

Junior Trine Lundamo came in second place to lead UNM. Senior Andrea Roberts and Pirkko Pulkkanen came in fifth and 11th place, while Tiffany Callahan placed 20th.

The women received 75 points for their performance, which topped all other schools in the 10K race.

The UNM men were led by Inge Kristofferson's third-place finish. Dirk Grimm came in eighth and Jedd Young finished 19th. The three skiers gave UNM a third-place finish with 65 points. Endre-Rogn's illness prevented him from finishing the race.

The Lobos' next meet is Jan. 28-29 in Winter Park, Colo.
