The Lobos were set to play two games Sunday against Liberty and Texas Tech but had to settle for the former when weather conditions and travel plans canceled the second half of their doubleheader.
The Liberty Flames already lost their first game of the day to Texas Tech, 15-7, heading into the matchup against the Lobos.
It wasn't much of a contest, with UNM winning 10-2 in six innings due to the mercy rule that ends a game after one team goes up by eight points.
The Lobos scored seven unanswered runs in the sixth, including a two-run RBI triple by Cassie Chavez and the walk-off, two-run homer by Ashley Shartzer.

Despite the lopsided final score, it was a close contest through the first five innings, with the Lobos never going up by more than two.
Sophomore Caley Peterson won her first complete game as a pitcher, as she pitched for six hits, one earned run, four walks and five strikeouts.
The Lobos were looking forward to the championship matchup against Texas Tech, but due to weather conditions and the travel conflicts of the Red Raiders, the game was canceled.
In spite of the news, head coach Kim Newbern said the win over Liberty was well earned.
"We played a lot more consistent, which is good," she said. "The sticks really came alive at the end."
Because the final game was canceled, the Lobos and the Red Raiders shared the Fairfield Inn Lobo Softball Classic title.
Four Lobos got awards for their play over the weekend - Ashley Perkins, Kristina Schmallen, Cassie Chavez and Ryanne Hodgins.
