Softball
The Lobos took down New Mexico State in both games of a doubleheader Friday at Lobo Field.
The superb pitching of Katie Gregg and Ashley Perkins helped UNM get two 2-0 shutouts.
Gregg held NMSU to just three hits in the first game, while Perkins allowed only two.
The Lobos have won five straight games to improve their record to 10-15. The Aggies' two losses drop them to 15-19.
Counting those 14 scoreless innings, UNM has pitched 28 scoreless innings of the last 29 innings overall.

UNM returns to play NMSU in Las Cruces on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The Lobos come home on Friday to start the Mountain West Conference season against University of Nevada-Las Vegas.
Women's Tennis
UNM, ranked No. 48 in the country, beat the No. 35-ranked University of Nevada-Las Vegas on Sunday to bring its record to 10-7 overall and 2-0 in the Mountain West Conference.
It was head coach Kathy Kolankiewicz's 300th career win at UNM.
The Lobos won 4-3 thanks to the performances of Maja Kovacek, Iva Gersic and Michelle Heidbrink. The trio won both their singles and doubles matches.
In doubles, Kovacek and Gersic won 8-5 against Anne Claire Luis-Ortiz and Linda Tempelfelde.
Kovacek won at the No. 1 singles spot, 6-2, 6-3, against No. 22-ranked Elena Gantcheva. At the No. 2 singles spot, Gersic took down Gyorgyi Zsiros, 7-6, 6-4.
Heidbrink teamed with Tiffany Robertson to win at the No. 2 doubles spot against Zsiros and Claire Smith, 8-6.
Heidbrink went on to defeat Shanon Marin in a three-set thriller 6-3, 2-6, 6-0.
Track and Field
Matt Gonzales, Shadrack Kiptoo-Biwott and Ben Ortega all had break-out days for the Lobos in the Stanford Invitational.
Gonzales ran to a third-place finish in the 1,500-meter Saturday with a time of 3:43.31. That time was 0.62 seconds off the winner, Jonah Maiyo of Arizona. It was the second fastest 1,500-meter time of Gonzales' career. Gonzales did manage to top the Mountain West Conference champion, Nathan Robinson of Brigham Young, by two seconds.
Kiptoo-Biwott placed 15th in the 5,000- meter. His time of 14:03.32 was good enough to qualify him for the Midwest Regional. Gonzales' time also qualifies him for the Midwest Regional.
Ortega topped his personal best time in the 10,000-meter to place 24th overall. His time passed the NCAA provisional qualifying time.
Senior Jacquelyne Gallegos missed the regional qualifying mark, but did manage to set her own personal record in the race with a time of 17:01.83.
At the Wes Kittley Classic in Texas Tech on Thursday, Amanda Barnes won the shot put with a throw of 47-11.25.
Jamie Fishencord won the discus, topping Barnes for the gold medal with a toss of 149-05. Fishencord placed second in the hammer with a throw of 165-00 to beat out Barnes for the silver medal.
