Editor,
There will be a rally on June 18 at Shiprock Park in Shiprock to help stop the proposed Desert Rock Power Plant in the Four Corners area. This is an important issue I believe should be covered by the media.
Albuquerque residents are not part of the Four Corners region, but the proposed Desert Rock Power Plant is a coal-fired plant that would emit 3,400 tons of mercury and ozone into the air - this would affect Albuquerque's air - so this is not just an environmental justice issue for the residents of Four Corners, but a public health and safety issue for us all.
I sincerely hope that everyone consider investigating the proposed power plant as well as the impending effects on air quality from the existing Four Corners power plants.
