Letter: Self-pitying liberals distort Bush's fight for democracy

Editor,

This letter is in response to Brian Fejer's letter in Tuesday's Daily Lobo headlined, "Cowardly Americans get what they deserve."

Are you an American citizen? Do you pay taxes? Do you vote? If so, I would imagine you would realize that President George Bush is in office because the majority of American citizens voted for him to lead the country. I am sorry you self-pitying liberals cannot come to accept that the majority of freedom-loving Americans chose Bush to lead America in the war on terrorism.

The only reason you are crying over the cost of oil is because you are paying more at the pump. America under the Bush Doctrine has brought freedom to the women in Iraq and Afghanistan - who just voted for the first time in their lives. The Bush administration has delivered democracy to a dictatorship in the Middle East and has neutralized a threat against America and others.

Strong Americans who are willing to fight for what is right have made this country what it is. Samuel Adams said it best: "If ye love wealth greater than liberty, the tranquility of servitude greater than the animating contest for freedom, go home from us in peace. We seek not your counsel, nor your arms. Crouch down and lick the hand that feeds you. May your chains set lightly upon you, and may posterity forget that ye were our countrymen."

Fejer said, "Sept. 11, 2001, was the best thing that ever happened to the Bush regime." I think that is one of the most horrible things I have ever read. Sept. 11 was one of the worst moments in our country's history. Terrorists, not the Bush administration, murdered more than 3,000 innocent men, women and children.

I am sorry you do not want to fight. I am sorry the cost of oil is more important to you than the security of our country. Wealth is more important to you than liberty, but fortunately the majority of Americans do not need your counsel or your arms. You may lick the hand of fanatic Islam that hates you - and may your chains rest lightly upon you.
