Editor,
Regarding the lawsuit against KUNM, I will reserve judgment until all the facts are in, but we liberals invented the concept of a hostile work environment.
We made a major point out of working for an end to religious and political discrimination, among other sorts of discrimination. We did so against the belief that employers have the right to hire, fire, promote or demote, or have as customers, anyone they please, for reasons of conscience or otherwise.
I hope our defense of a nondiscriminatory, nonhostile workplace was intended to be a general principle, applicable to all persons, whether it was us employed by them, or them employed by us.
Anything less is the simple, cliquish us-against-them mentality - which I've hoped we've been above for over 200 years - and would make a mockery of the principle that I may disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it.
