Editor,
Life is about opportunities - one door closes and another opens. Our president, Louis Caldera, is committed to opening doors for each and every student at UNM, and we at the Anderson Schools of Management are doing our part.
In partnership with other entities on campus, we are sponsoring a Universitywide business plan competition. First prize in the competition will win $25,000.
We are looking for a few good women and men who came to UNM not just to attend school, but to build a career. If you've ever dreamed of running your own business, now is your chance. Between now and April, take that dream and mold it into a plan that will earn part of the $40,000 in prize money.
And we're here to help. Every other Friday, we offer pizza, soda and advice to would-be entrepreneurs whose ideas are coalescing into a plan for life. You and your future business partners should join us. After all, someone is going to win these prizes - it might as well be you.
The baseball player Branch Rickey once said that luck is the intersection of opportunity and hard work. We have provided the opportunity, you provide the hard work and get lucky.
