Letter: Caldera paid for resigning while UNM gets poorer

Editor,

What a sweet deal. Resign and get paid for it - do you blame Caldera?

Oh, and receive a position in the UNM School of Law, too. It might be better for UNM that President Caldera is leaving, but maybe not. Maybe the UNM Board of Regents is really doing us all a favor, or maybe not.

One thing is certain: Faculty, staff and students lose. Tuition continues to rise and faculty pay continues to be mediocre, while money is thrown Caldera's way like there is no tomorrow. So much money, in fact, that UNM doesn't have the funds to conduct a presidential search while Caldera is being paid.

If Caldera and the Board of Regents have any respect for this University, they will make sure tuition doesn't rise this year and will make sure a president is hired that will stick around for the length of a contract.
