Editor,
It is believed that Voltaire said something like, "I disagree with what you say, but I will defend to the death your right to say it."
Today we have a president who is trying to use the fact that some people do not support his policies to label those people as traitors to the cause of democracy, and thereby increase his power and control over all of the citizens on this nation.
I think it is appropriate that we ask who, exactly, is the traitor to democracy?
I also have a couple questions for George Bush and the others who think we should continue to have troops in Iraq to prevent a civil war and ensure the development of democracy: Do you think that any foreign country could have prevented our civil war?
If a foreign country had tried to prevent our civil war, would that have been a good thing for us that helped us achieve a better form of government?
