Editor,
The only objection I have to outsourcing 21 ports in the United States to the state-owned corporation Dubai Ports World of the United Arab Emirates isn't that they're Arab, but that American-owned companies should be running the ports. I guess the United States has fallen into such decline that we don't manufacture anything but death, destruction and democracy.
Most of the top people in government who don't know anything about homeland security - like President Bush, Homeland Security Director Michael Chertoff and Defense Secretary Donald Rumsfeld - didn't even know about the purchase until after it was finalized.
These are the same clowns who were warned about Sept. 11, 2001, in advance and did nothing, who were warned about levees being breached and stayed on vacation, who were warned about civil war in Iraq and vowed to stay the course.
Phillip Camp wrote in his letter in last week's Daily Lobo that most of the top people in government who know anything about homeland security are the ones who think it is a safe decision.
That is a nice talking point, but like all talking points, BS.

The Department of Homeland Security protested the ports deal - it was the lone protest among members of the government committee that eventually approved the deal without dissent.
Al-Qaida warned the government of the United Arab Emirates more than three years ago that it infiltrated key government agencies, according to a disturbing document released by the American military, and the former head of the 9/11 Commission said the deal never should have happened.
Horrible Republicans and horrible Democrats have sold us out, and world trade is a death machine. Welcome to the new world order - maybe someday China will outsource jobs back to the United States for a couple of cents an hour.
