Editor,
Nowhere in the world, I believe, is authentic Christianity more confused and distorted than in America.
That's because we have the most freedom in the world to distort it for our own purposes. Some of the recent letters to the editor of the Daily Lobo have shown that.
If someone is hungry to know the truth about Christianity, he or she need only to learn about the man after which the religion is named, Jesus Christ. The Holy Bible remains the primary source about this man.
Any good researcher knows that examining the primary sources of your subject is the best source. So forget all the religious leaders, statements of faith, spin-off books, etc.
Go back to the primary source: the Bible. If one has any questions about what he or she reads, he or she can ask those questions to a credible follower of Jesus Christ.

But here's the trick: Give the Christian your best shot, your toughest questions. If the Christian does not use the primary source, the Bible, to rationally answer them in a way that makes sense, then you found a lemon. You can find a few authentic followers at the UNM Christian Student Center on campus.
Any Christian worth his salt - a biblical concept - will only use the primary source to answer your questions. That will cut down on the confusion with all the various advocates of Christianity.
