Letter: It's pointless to impeach Republicans' puppet

Editor,

Impeach George Bush?

That's kind of like a sick joke. It would take longer to push the paperwork through the system than he has left in office. Most of the people who are in a position to impeach him are his sycophants.

Any Republican who voted to impeach would be politically doomed, whatever the outcome. Democrats would applaud such a Republican, but never elect him.

Anyway, Bush is only a sock on the puppet master's hand, and impeaching him would not help. You would also have to impeach Vice President Dick Cheney, political adviser Karl Rove, and Secretary of Defense Donald Rumsfeld, replace most of their apparatchiks, and grant the largest government contracts to different corporations.

Impeaching him will not change what he has done. Any new president will have to face two facts.

First, our bogus fiat dollar is backed only by our Army's ability to make the rest of the world use it exclusively to buy oil from the Middle East.

Second, what was once a small cult of militant Middle East religious fanatics has become a global movement of millions who harbor eternally dedicated enmity for us, in the name of God.

The Republicans are not worried about the next presidential election. They are only working out which new tractable cheerleading moron will be the spokesmodel to represent the GOP, which will win no matter whom they choose.
