Letter: Reasons for removing paper schedules illogical

Editor,

First of all thank you for putting the article "Petitioning for paper schedules" on the front page of the Daily Lobo this week.

This is a major change for all students, and when I found out about this change I was shocked and upset. I am glad people are petitioning this - everyone should sign it.

I liked the paper schedules, which were more accessible and let me use my own way of organizing my classes.

In the Daily Lobo article, one of the reasons for the change to online scheduling was said to be because of the cost. The article said that an estimated cost was $35,000 to $40,000 per semester to print and mail the schedules.

And the tuition hike of 6 percent - what are they going to be using this extra money for?

I would like to know, because now at UNM we have to pay more to go to school, and then the University changes something that people like.
