The UNM softball team (20-18, 1-5 MWC) split a doubleheader with the University of Nevada-Las Vegas on Sunday.
UNLV took the first game, winning 4-2. Lobo pitcher Caley Peterson fell to 4-5 after allowing three runs on four hits in three innings.
The Runnin' Rebels' Becky McDonald was the winning pitcher, tossing 5 2/3 innings and allowing two runs. UNLV's Shannon Crisp earned her first save of the season, pitching 1 1/3 scoreless innings and striking out one hitter.
UNLV third baseman Kendall Fearn did most of the damage, finishing 2-for-3 with two RBIs and one run. Shortstop Maggie Livreri added an RBI and went 2-for-3.

UNM shortstop Cassie Chavez scored a run and finished 2-for-3 from the plate. Lindsey Elcess went 1-for-3 with two RBIs and a run scored.
In the second game, the Lobos squeezed out a 1-0 victory behind solid pitching and defense. Katie Gregg improved to 11-4 and was awarded the victory for UNM. Gregg pitched a complete game, allowed no runs and finished with seven strikeouts. UNLV's Christie Robinson (5-9) pitched 6 1/3 innings and allowed only one run, but was given the loss.
UNM's Analise Rubalcava scored the lone run of the game, hitting a home run in the fifth inning. Rubalcava went a perfect 2-for-2 from the plate.
The Lobos host Brigham Young University for a doubleheader March 13 at Lobo Field.
