The UNM softball team split a doubleheader with the Utah Utes on Sunday.
The one win gave the Lobos their second in the Mountain West Conference, while Utah fell to 5-3 in MWC play. UNM is 21-21 overall and Utah is 26-13.
The Lobos took the first game 5-2 before dropping the second 5-2.
Kristina Schmallen hit two home runs on the day giving her 12 on the season. The 12 home runs are one short of Danielle Cassara's school record of 13 set in 1999. Schmallen also has 48 RBIs on the season, six short of Cassara's RBI record. UNM has 10 games left on its schedule.

In the first game, Utah scored first to go up 1-0 heading into the bottom of the first inning before Schmallen blasted her first home run of the day to put the Lobos up 4-1. Utah scored one more run in the fourth inning to trim the lead to two runs. And then Schmallen came up and put the Lobos out of danger with another home run to give UNM the 5-2 lead.
The second game didn't fare as well for UNM, with Utah capitalizing on three errors to score four of its runs.
The Lobos didn't score until the fourth inning when Liz Young's two-out single sent home Lindsey Elcess and Schmallen.
UNM wouldn't score again in the game. The Lobos only got six hits in the game.
The Lobos' last home games of the season are against the University of Nevada-Las Vegas on Friday at 1 p.m. and San Diego State on Sunday at noon.
