Editor,
I was shocked by a letter in last Wednesday's issue of the Daily Lobo in which a reader supported the United States' decision to suspend financial aid to the Palestinian Authority because, as he put it, Palestinians don't deserve aid for electing terrorists.
Obviously, who constitutes a terrorist is in the eye of the beholder.
From where I'm standing, there's a terrorist in the White House, and so perhaps I should have used the letter's same logic and withheld my income tax payment this year.
The Palestinians held a free and fair election and spoke loud and clear. Their decision must be respected, just as we demand respect in return.
Our nation's penchant for unlawful regime change in other countries and our arrogance in addressing global challenges leads me to believe that voters in the United States need to focus on a serious regime change closer to home in 2008.
