The UNM men's tennis team's season came to an end at the Mountain West Conference Championships Thursday after the team fell to Brigham Young University 4-2 in San Diego.
UNM fell to 11-9 overall on the season and 2-5 in the MWC.
The No. 72-ranked Lobos were unable to overcome No. 71 BYU after losing the singles point to open the match. Max Jones and Kamil Pajkowski lost a tiebreaker to James Ludlow and Dominick Kaufhold of BYU. Jones and Pajkowski, the team's No. 1 doubles team, fell 9-8 in overtime.
In the No. 2 doubles spot, Johnny Parkes and Miles Bugby of UNM fell 8-5 to Nima Roshan and Jose Lechuga of BYU.

In the No. 3 spot, the Lobos' Eric Conklin and Graeme Kassautzki came out with an 8-5 victory over Christian Hand and Jonathon Sanchez. With BYU winning two of the three doubles matches, they were awarded the doubles point.
In singles play, Jones earned a victory in the No. 1 spot, defeating Ludlow 6-1, 6-4, in two sets. Pajkowski won the only other point for the Lobos after defeating Ivan Kokurin of BYU in two sets, 6-3, 6-1 in the No. 4 spot.
In the No. 3 spot, Kassautzki fell to Dominik Kaufhold of BYU in three sets, 7-5, 1-6, 6-2. BYU's Lechuga defeated Conklin 6-2, 6-1 in the No. 5 spot, and Chandler Brass fell 6-2, 6-2 to BYU's Christian Hand. The No. 2 singles play did not finish because the outcome of the match had been decided after BYU won the necessary four points.
