Junior Lucy Scott knows she will have to be aggressive to help her team get back to the upper echelon of tennis.
The women's tennis team advanced to the NCAA Regional tournament last season with the help of Scott.
With Scott's development and consistent play, she can play a big part in helping the Lobos get there, said Kathy Kolankiewicz, UNM head coach.

"She has been a consistent player day in and day out," Kolankiewicz said. "I know she worked hard this summer, and it will definitely show as the semester progresses."
As an international transfer from Wrexham, Wales, Scott had to adapt to her surroundings in New Mexico.
Her teammates helped make the transition a bit easier, Scott said.
"When I came over here, I liked the team and just the chemistry they had," she said.
Back in Wales, Scott was the Welsh U-16 singles champion. Now that she has confidence in herself and the team, Scott said the Lobos will be a team to be reckoned with.
"We're going to win conference this year," Scott said. "Every year, the team's been good enough - just little things have stopped us."
Kolankiewicz said Scott will be one of the players to help lead the team this year.
"Lucy has been an integral part of the team the last two years," she said. "She has two years of experience under her belt, and that should come in handy this year as we compete."
Scott plays in singles and doubles matches and plans to step up her game, she said.
"I'd like to get more persistent on my serve and just start getting more aggressive in my game," Scott said.
Last season, Scott competed in the No. 2 and No. 3 doubles spot and also the No. 5 singles spot.
While Scott has been working hard to improve her talents on the court, she said there is time to enjoy the perks of being on a team.
"It's nice getting to travel around the country and see all the different places," Scott said. "I've got friends at home who, looking back, wish they would have done it now - they kind of regret that they hadn't. I would have definitely regretted not coming here and at least given it a shot."
