Letter: Letter: Focus on war casualties, not just aborted fetuses

Editor,

My first reaction to the display by the anti-abortion organization Justice For All was that it lacked good taste. However, I find the censoring of information coming out of Iraq to be much more horrifying.

Americans are too desensitized to the real horror show - not abortion, but this mess of a world. Americans have reached the pinnacle of secrets and lies. The rest of the world sees what's going on. I guess that's why many people have come to hate us around the world.

The war is sanitized in the media. All coverage of flag-draped coffins arriving home is censored by the military. In the past month in Iraq, more than 100 U.S. troops have been killed and more than 1,000 have been wounded. Does anyone reading this know their names or recognize their faces?

The casualties in Iraq are human beings. They were living, breathing human beings, not just zygotes.

People shake their heads at me when I tell them I am both pro-life and pro-choice. If you are against abortion then don't have one - otherwise mind your own business. Whatever happened to living in freedom in the U.S. without the shadow of religious tyranny?

Enjoy what you're reading?
