Letter: Nonvoters know their vote won't change the system

Editor,

Deanna Delgado courageously put an unpopular view in clear sight of predictable criticism. A no-vote is obviously a vote against the state of American politics.

The political climate is fraught, corruption is endemic and the will of industry has been

accommodated to an obscene degree. A no-vote undermines the illusion of political influence garnered by a mark in a box. Regardless of who you vote for, the mark is still in the box. One's influence is quarantined within a structure amalgamated by the elite with supportive mechanisms such as media, industry and foreign influence guarding the door.

While there are measurable gains to be had in local elections, federal and state elections have proven time and time again to be little more than obfuscated posturing and pandering to a misinformed public. Propositioning someone to leave the country because he or she refuses to vote or to register to vote is asinine. He or she has obviously chosen a no-vote.
